How to get rid of love handles fast: 4 simple secrets to losing your love handles, and keeping them off

You may have been taught that what you eat determines whether or not you are able to lose weight. While your diet does have a large influence on your weight loss or gain, there are many more reasons why you may be struggling to get rid of your love handles. In this article, I will share with you 4 simple secrets to losing love handles, without focusing only on what you eat.

1. Set goals that are in your control - forget about No Control Goals

The most important part of any weight loss program, and yes, that includes getting rid of those love handles, is that you have specific and measurable goals that are in your control. This means that your goal shouldn't be to lose your love handles in 2 months, because you are not in control of exactly how quick your able to lose your love handles.

Rather, set a goal to exercise 3 times a week, or to walk for 20 minutes every day. These are what I call "Control Goals", because you can take responsibility for it, and you are in control of achieving these goals.

2. Sleep more

Yes, you can lose more weight, just by sleeping more. Research has shown that a lack of sleep can lead to overeating. Dr's Eve van Cauter and Kristen Knutson, who are scientists that do research into sleep and how it affects your hormones, found that sleep deprivation leads to an increase in the hormones that make you feel hungry, as well as a decrease in the hormones that make you feel full (you can see this link if you want the science behind this). This combination of factors can put a stop in your weight loss efforts.

Everyone needs a different amount of sleep each night, but getting 6 - 8 hours of good, solid sleep every night is highly recommended to help keep your hunger at bay.

3. Stress less

Yes, I know its much easier said than done. But, high levels of stress often leads to you eating sweets or fast foods. You know what I am talking about. Its very easy to munch on some donuts or chips when you are under heavy stress. The problem is that these types of foods leave you feeling hungry and unsatisfied, but they also pack quite a punch in terms of kilojoules.

To curb this overeating when stressed, I would advise that you always have a supply of healthy alternatives with you. Carry dried fruit or nuts in your handbag, or go buy some health bars to keep with you for when you get the urge to munch.

4. Don't try to spot reduce

Its not going to work. Very few people can target a specific body part, and make it smaller. If you want to lose your love handles, you are going to need to reduce your body fat. In other words, don't do only sit-ups if you want to get rid of your love handles.

You need to follow an effective weight loss program if you want to eliminate love handles. This program should include proper and controllable goals, the right exercises, as well as the right diet. Yes, this program should include specific workouts to get rid of love handles, but your weight loss program should not focus on only getting rid of them.
