  1. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day. When your body is hydrated it won't confuse thirst with hunger.
  2. If you are going to have a meal at a restaurant, plan before hand what you are going to eat and stick with it!
  3. Keep a food dairy with what you ate, the time you ate and your feelings at the time that you ate. This will help you not to snack mindlessly.
  4. Soups are a great way to fill yourself up without the extra kilojoules. Have a small bowl of soup before your meals. This will lead to you eating less of your main meals. Just make sure the soup is non creamy and low in fat.
  5. Keep lots of healthy foods like vegetables and fruit at hand. Snack on it freely whenever you feel hungry. Carrots are a great snack to keep handy!
  6. If you get the urge to eat something when you are not really hungry, find a fun activity you can do to take your mind of food. Try jogging on one place (if it won't look too weird). This will keep your good intentions in place.
  7. Don't go more than five hours without eating. It's best for your metabolism to eat small meals more often, and having a fast metabolism is a good way to get rid of love handles.
  8. Try and get as much activity in as possible. Walk to the nearby shops instead of driving (if its safe enough to do so). Or take your faithful dog out for his favorite walk.
  9. If there are restaurants or fast food shops on your route home, that prove to be much of a temptation, consider changing your route.
  10. If you sit a lot at work or at home, try to keep your posture upright and your tummy tucked in. this will help to tighten your abdominal muscles.
  11. If you have children, play with them. Instead of engaging in couch potato behavior, teach your kids from an early state to be active along with you. Playing games that involve physical movement is a great way to get fit and have lots of family fun.
  12. Eat very slowly and savour your food. This will trick the mind into believing that you've had more food (because you've eaten so slowly), and will also keep you from overeating.
  13. Get help and motivation from loved ones. Going on a training or diet program with the support of a friend will keep you both motivated and more committed to your weight loss goals.
  14. Straight after dinner, go to the bathroom to brush your teeth and gargle with some mouth wash. When your mouth is feeling nice and clean, you will be less likely to want to eat again that night.
