When your goal is to lose stomach fat and to get well defined abs, your diet couldn't be more important. Because what we eat makes up about 80% of how we look. So if we want to look better we have to eat better. This is where the food pyramid can help you to create your perfect abs diet guide.

Here are the guidelines of the food pyramid and how to use it to help you achieve your goals:

Main Food Groups And Dietary Guidelines:

Fats, oils and sweets

Fats and oils should be used sparingly in your diet. The focus should be on healthy fats (unsaturated). For women I would recommend to take in 4 servings of healthy fats a day and for men 6-7 servings. Try to limit your intake of sweets to only on very special occasions.

Meat, Poultry, Fish, Beans, Eggs and nuts

This food group supplies the body with essential proteins. When you choose foods from this food group, choose the lean variety and always remove the skin or the excess fat and prepare it in a healthy way. The recommended daily allowance of this group is about 5-6 servings.

Diary Products (milk, yogurt and cheese)

Dairy products are very important as it aids in weight loss. Try to stick to the low fat and fat free varieties (you won't even taste the difference. The daily recommended allowance according to the food pyramid is 1-3 servings.

Fruit

Fruit is very important in any healthy diet. The fiber keeps you full and it is a great snack. You should include about 2-5 servings of fruit into your abs diet guide.

Vegetables

Vegetables are also very important to keep you lean and supply you with all the vitamins you need. If you don't like eating vegetables, throw them in your stews, pasta sauces and stir fries. Aim to get about 2-5 servings of it in per day.

Bread, cereal, rice and pasta

Although most of us believe differently, this food group forms the very base of the food pyramid. It is the body's main source of energy and it also keeps you full. Make sure to stick to healthy variants, like whole-wheat and low GI and that you prepare it in a healthy way. Aim to get about 6-11 servings in a day.

If you follow the above guidelines and eat small meals through out the day, you are bound to get in all your recommended daily allowance of food groups and it will also make for a great abs diet guide.
